The new Euro 7 standard is to be the final package in the EU's emissions regulations. Its aim is to further tighten emissions standards and vehicle regulations in order to counteract air pollution and come closer to the EU's goal of being climate-neutral by 2050.
What is the Euro 7 standard?
Euro-7 is the successor to Euro-6 and is intended to make a significant contribution to reducing air pollution and cleaning the atmosphere. Euro-7 is the strictest and most ambitious emissions standard ever adopted in Europe. It applies to all vehicle types (petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric) and targets both exhaust emissions and non-exhaust emissions (e.g. particulate matter from tyre, brake and road wear).
To what extent does Euro-7 differ from Euro-6?
The Euro 7 standard further tightens the previous Euro 6 standards and serves as the EU's final step towards green transport. By 2050, the EU's entire transport sector should be climate-neutral.
