Biodiesel is a biosynthetic fuel of plant origin, produced from various vegetable oils and methanol.

Bioethanol serves as a substitute for conventional petrol. It is increasingly produced with residual materials such as straw, wood or grain waste.

There are currently no known projects in Switzerland for the production of synthetic fuels based on biomass fractions.

Synthetic fuels are produced by means of chemical reactions. All biomass fractions serve as raw materials. They can be used with conventional engines and fuel systems.
