"The main thing that would help is a reduction in the HVF"
The EU is planning special tariffs on imports of biodiesel from China - this is unlikely to affect Switzerland for the time being, says Martin Joss, Managing Director of Biofuels Switzerland. He is concerned with completely different challenges.
According to EU documents published a few days ago, the additional duties will amount to between 12.8 per cent and 36.4 per cent of the value of the goods. The duties are to apply provisionally from mid-August; the EU investigation into the dumping prices is planned to run until February. The duties could then be finalised for five years.
The proportion of biogenic fuels in Switzerland is almost seven per cent.
