BIOGENIC FUELS - On the road to decarbonisation, biogenic fuels have a key role to play: virtually under the radar, they have developed into one of the most effective instruments for reducing CO₂ emissions in recent years.

Biofuels are a wallflower in the public eye: there is a lot of talk about them, but nobody really knows how biofuels are produced and where they are used. However, in the new CO₂ Act, which is currently being debated in the Federal Assembly, biofuels are now at the centre of attention. Biodiesel, ethanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) - a collective term for CO₂-free aviation fuels - are to make an even greater contribution to the decarbonisation of car, truck and air traffic in the future than they have in the past.
